re:collections workshops

During the course of the re:collections exhibition we are hosting four workshops which give an unrivalled opportunity for art students, amateur writers and anyone interested in the creative process to develop your skills with a group of eight acclaimed artists and writers.

Then there are a series of practical workshops led by a pair of artists or writers during which participants will get a chance to create their own piece of work inspired by the Museum's collections. These half-day workshops offer a range of different creative opportunities for teenagers and adults.

The workshops are free, but places for each workshop are limited so please book in advance by contacting the Museum on  01892 554171.

Workshop 4

Sunday 20th February – from 2 PM to 4:30 PM.

This will be led by artist Ellen Montelius and writer Sarah Salway.

During the workshop card board dolls will be made incorporating text as a build up for writing a story.

The idea is that each body part represents a different part of the story. Either you can leave the story as it is, or you can use it to write something new from it. Or you can swop in another body part and make a completely different story. Rather like those women who used the dress patterns could make up different parts of the doll's dress and therefore create a new story for the doll every time they used the pattern.
